Access to technology is a huge challenge for many families that we serve in any combination of ways. This can include:
- Economic barriers impacting the purchase of technology, including broadband access and equipment
- Lack of familiarity with new technology, i.e. smart phones, computers/tablets
- Limited access to fax/scanning/copying
This leaves our neighbors without the ability to navigate applications for employment, SNAP, unemployment reporting, banking, Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles transactions, and so many other systems that are almost fully online.
At NRC Fulton, we want to assess technology gaps and then work to supply our neighbors with assistance to eliminate these barriers.
This will include:
- NRC offering computer/tech classes,
- Purchasing new computer/tablet and other technology,
- And expanding our current fax/scanning/copying services.
